Island Slippers are my true style secret. (Please ignore the unfortunate flashy colors in the photo, they are far better in black, beige, and metallics.) I first bought them on a whim in a random Southern California mall and was instantly hooked. They are the most comfortable shoes ever, and have a style that somehow just works. They have a vintage appeal, classic and just a tiny bit vulgar. They're about $60 and are handmade to order, and best of all they are made in Hawaii-- pretty much the only other things made in Hawaii today are pineapples and coconut.
The funniest thing I can say about them is that years ago I was wearing them in the Manolo Blahnik boutique in NYC and the salesperson actually asked me where to get a pair!
