Lighbulb Moment

I've got these utilitarian-chic light sockets all over my loft apartment--they are white porcelain and cost about $4, and look good when they are wall-mounted with silver-tipped bulbs. But up on my ceiling they are pretty dullsville with regular old lightbulbs. These ones (in a project done by fancy-dancy celeb architect Annabelle Selldorf, who our nutjob architect actually used to work for) manage to look a lot more sophisticated without taking away from their clean, modern appeal. I need to know what kind of bulbs these are. Hoping a trip to my local lighbulb store will help, but any suggestions out there?
